A local business hopes their fashion show this weekend will help dogs in Augusta County find homes. On Sunday, Partler’s Touch Bridal and Formal, is hosting a prom dress and formal wear fashion show to raise money for Augusta Dog Adoptions. The event will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the historic Stonewall Jackson Hotel, located at 24 S Market St in Staunton.
“We’re all pet lovers and we knew it was a group of volunteers that run the ADA, and we just thought it would be a good cause,” said Partler Cash, owner of Partler’s Touch. “It just seemed like the right thing to do. We knew they would need these finances [and] we had heard great things about them.”
The show will feature local high school juniors and seniors modeling White Party Dresses and tuxedos from the store.
“Many of the styles are exclusive to Partler’s Touch,” Cash said.
Augusta Dog Adoptions (ADA) was formed in 2006 and is a volunteer run dog rescue that finds homes for dogs from local shelters and high-kill shelters throughout Virginia. The dogs are fostered by volunteers at their personal homes until an adoption match is made. On Saturdays, ADA brings dogs to the Waynesboro Petsmart from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. to find homes for the rescued animals.
The rescue organization will use any proceeds for the care of the animals and help cover medical expenses. The group is purely volunteer based and does not have salaries or funds to cover medical procedures.
“Partler contacted us and wanted to do this for us,” said Vanessa Ford, vice president of ADA. The group plans to bring some adoptable dogs to the event, “if it’s ok with the Stonewall Jackson Hotel,” added Ford.
“Everybody seems really excited to help this organization,” said Cash.
Tickets are $7 and may be purchased at Partler’s Touch or at the door. For more information about Partler’s Touch, visit Partlerstouch.com . For more information about the Augusta Dog Adoptions, visit specialbrides.com .
